This beautiful basket is from a private collection. It is a classic for the Tohono O’odham or Desert People who live in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona and Mexico. The materials are still gathered by hand and consist of beargrass and soaptree yucca, The overall plaque has the beautiful split wheat design in a whirlwind pattern.
