Native American Hopi-Made Sifter Basket
Women on all three mesas make plaited sifter baskets. These baskets are made by plaiting yucca fibers, either natural or dyed, to achieve many designs. Many of the Hopi wickers, coils, and sifters are used for social or ceremonial purposes. This sifter has faded on the back to just plain green, the natural color of the yucca. Woven on a metal ring.
Dimensions: 10 inches in diameter
