Native American Acoma Hand-Painted and Tool-Marked Seed Pot
Wonderful handpainted seed pot accented with tool marks on the top is signed by Acoma potter Beatrice Garcia. A classic piece of Acoma pottery with geometric painting around the top as well as the body of the pot. In the fall the women would take the seeds for the next Spring, place them in these pots, and then stack them. These pots would be placed in the corner of their home, stacked so the bottom of one pot would seal the top of the other. This storage technique would save space and keep the rodents from ruining next year’s seed crop. ^
Dimensions: 4.75 inches tall by 4.75 inches in diameter.
